Based in the famous book of Garcia Marquez that takes the same name, this is a history of love and drama, in which the unconditional love of Florentine Ariza (Javier Bardem) by the beautiful Fermina Daza (Giovanna Mezzogiorno) appears.
Florentine it worked in the telegraph, of messenger. A day called on to take a telegram to him to the house of the Daza; it is here where he meet Fermina. It was love at first sight. There they begin to maintain to their love by means of letters that hid in a secret place. When the father (John Leguizamo) of whole Fermina of this the shipment far, because not would allow that his adored daughter married with a messenger. When Fermina returned, no longer loved Florentine; unlike I have, if so the love grew with the distance, but no longer there was nothing to do.
