George Clooney was surprised with his debut in the opposite direction, to take you to Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, which made the adjustment Charlie Kauffman’s book by Chuck Barris, TV producer.
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind is an autobiographical book of Barris, and Clooney to remove the dark veil behind the mysterious double life of the producer.
Much has been speculated that Barris belonged to the CIA and carried out several secret missions, involving the killing of several people linked to communism. Clooney is also acting in the film, as the mysterious Jim Byrd, a CIA agent in charge of training Barris in the dark art of murder. The film is a remarkable work, in which George Clooney shows a full command of the narrative, keeping intact the interest in the history of the program as a creator of the Dating Game and The Gong Show. Thanks to a fake documentary style, several characters who knew Barris in his enterprises by the studios of ABC, described their experiences in interviews, using colors firings in the direction of photography Newton Thomas sigelos. Even the real Barris appears to close the film with some declarations at first hand. The tone of comedy blends beautifully with the colorful production design of those programs, all with a superb atmosphere, and a small step Clooney pays tribute to his deceased aunt, the jazz singer Rose Mary Clooney, who offered several sessions musical on ABC during that time.
