Has a reputation won at the city and now there is a new defiance in front of him: has a client who was discover with his lover, being married, and now his wife are demand him. So Rex Rexroth(Edward Herrmann) the client, needs to prove that he is innocent, and his wife can get all his money. The wife, Marilyn (Catherine Zeta-Jones), looks so wound by this, try to keep all the money that Rex had, leaving him without anything of his own money.
Even though at first, Marilyn looks wound, Miles discover that she just want steal Rex’s money, like she did the same with her others husbands. With the time, Marilyn get other boyfriend, and sings the Massey’s Maritally Agreement; it is unbreakable, so Miles though that if she run this risk, of sings that, her love to Howard Doyle (Billy Bob Thornton) was pretty real.
At all the movie Miles tries to discover what she really want whit guys, and maybe discover something new in his life, something that he is not finding…
