Erin Bruner(Laura Linney) is a lawyer who have to represent a case, some strange… she have to represent a priest, Father Moore(Tom Wilkinson) who is acussed of kill a young woman by a exorcism, the girl’s name is Emily Rose(Jennifer Carpenter).
Emily was a young student who awhile she sleep, she was possessed by a demon. She believe and love God, so anyone thinks that it could happen… Emily’s family went to their church looking for help to save their little girl, and here comes in Father Moore. He did everything that he could to save her soul… but….
Before everything, Erin Bruner, who never felt and believe in nothing, began to believe and try to keep free Father Moore, knowing that Devil exist too.
